before & after
First of all, let me just say that we bought this dining set before we procreated, though truth to tell the chair that's always been the most mucked up is the one Larry usually sits in. Second, when we bought the set we lived in a small town and there wasn't much selection. Of course it's stupid to have cream colored cloth kitchen chair seats, but the ones with other colors were hideous. I have cleaned these suckers so many times, and they stay clean for about 30 seconds. I bought this fabric about a year ago with something kitchen-ish in mind, but at the time I thought it would be some kind of window treatment. That has not happened, but all of a sudden these crapped up seats just pushed me over the edge and I had to do something about it right away. So I got myself off to Jo-Ann Fabric and bought 2$ worth of clear vinyl and the results are pretty darned good, I think...as long as you don't inspect too closely or look underneath. And why would you do that?
The only materials needed were my staple gun (purchased years ago to plaster my small town with political signs), sharpie and scissors to mark and cut fabric, and a power drill to remove and replace the chair screws. I really never thought I would be the kind of person who would have a vinyl covered chair, but I guess that's what a messy husband and hordes of toddlers will do to your morals.

Those look great!
And yeah, with the co-op it's kinda a given that you'd have to cover the house in plastic. Ah well, some day we can all have pretty things again, right?
They look really good. The fabric you picked is super cute, you don't even notice the vinyl.
They look great! Wanna come change up my chairs somehow so they match the darker (free!) table we got last week???
