What is wilson silverleaf? We're organitarians; it's best for our bodies and the planet. We cloth diapered Nina for the same reason. We drive a hybrid car & wish we could afford solar panels on our house. I'm a strong advocate for homebirth, full-time mom, & also a movie junkie. We don't have a tv though; we watch dvds on our computer. We love contradancing. I garden & knit; Larry's a puzzle lover & plays fantasy football.

If you feel bad about not breastfeeding...

please don't blame me. If you feel bad about it, it's because of you, not because of me; stop blaming me. Just because I am pro-breastfeeding doesn't make me any kind of Nazi. It means I want every child to get the best start they can. In fact, I think you should have to have a prescription for formula.

Thanks!

PS, if I want to breastfeed in public, I don't care how you feel about it. Not even a little.

I just wanted to say that I am with you on the breastfeeding and wanted to also mention that I heart the shelfari thing. So cute.

Hey, I came across this on another blog recently. Check it out: Big Bird in 1977 watching a mother breastfeeding and talking to her about it!

Oh man, I just went to put in the link here, and it has been removed from youtube due to "terms of use violation"! ...sigh...

Well... it WAS pretty cool!

You know, I think this is huge. There was an article a few Mothering's ago about this weird guilt thing that we have about birth and parenting. Like, it's so important to us to make the right choices, but god forbid that we make another woman feel like she has failed or fallen short.

Well, I didn't become a mother so that I could try things and give up if they weren't easy for me. Parenting isn't about convenience or feeling personally like I'm doing enough. If I'm not doing the best thing for my child, then I'd sure as hell want to feel it.

Aaaaand I didn't really realize how bitter I was about this until I wrote it out here. I'm just a little sick of feeling like I need to apologize for my choices and steadfastness for doing what's best for the little dude.

Really? A prescription? From the same doctors who are yanking out upwards of 1/3 of babies by c-section and would like to make home birth illegal? I have more faith in American women than in the medical establishment to decide what is right for their babies.

amen, sister.

I HATE this "you shouldn't make me feel guilty because I failed at breastfeeding - you must be some sort of nazi" thing
